The High Sierras are a national treasure. Have friends who own a cabin in Huntington lake (elevation 7000 ft) who are vacationing in Alaska so their cabin is empty and we were given the key for the week. We went over Kaiser Pass for the first time - elevation 9100+ ft - to get to Mono Hot Springs. It's one lane road with no gaurd rails and when you meet other vehicles often one or the other has to back up. I drive an FJ Cruiser so it was pretty much no worries.

... But... we took the road up to Mushroom Rock and it the height, along with the condition of the road was too much for me... got the heebee jeebees and we turned around. Here's a google pic though of that place.

Took this pic while on a walk along the lake. Then told the couple and they gave me their phone # and I sent it to them.

.

Good times! Now I want to go to Yosemite.
