Nope. I can't say I agree.

You don't need "serious" national contenders. You only need a populist left-leaning speaker who makes a decent case for change. Obama was a nobody when he won his nomination. And Bloomberg is well ahead of him, if he really wants to run. Sanders proved that religion is not as important as other factors. And there are plenty of others.

The real problem is that the party is reluctant to see the sea change and adapt to it. What they need is someone halfway between Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez (both in age and political views). But if they are really unsure, then they should allow candidates to cater to local tastes and see what shakes loose. They have a year to do it.
