Independents outnumber (D)'s by a large margin. Both parties compete for their votes. Trump has increased independents from the right, but this chart is pre-Trump. I wouldn't be at all surprised if today, independents outnumber both parties. Neither party represents most Americans, which is why there are so many independents today. You'd think they'd get a clue, but they haven't.

Trump won with independents, who are disappointed today. Can the (D)'s find a candidate that attracts them? That's what they need. It wasn't Stein or Johnson voters who elected Trump, it was independents rolling the dice, a lot of them former Bernie supporters. Not this independent.

(D) and (R) offers have been sucky or suckiest. We really need better options. Obama was one.
