Trump tried the same tactics Obama did, which were scrapped by O because they didn’t work. They still won’t work.

As long as Central American countries have extreme poverty and gang violence, people who live there will migrate to the US. We could spend a hundred billion dollars a year to turn the border into a Berlin Wall edifice, complete with shooting migrants who try to cross. Or, we could spend a fraction of that and seriously rebuild the failing Central American countries. In fact, they are failing due to 100+ years of US corporate abuse - think banana farming as the most obvious culprit.
