This is definitely my greatest fear in my investment in cymer. I was reading an article of an interview with Gordon Moore of intel when he stated that they are currently doing their work with optical systems. I took this to mean no lasers, though they didn't explicitly say that. I would be supremely confident in this stock if the lasers are essential for .25micron; but if they are not because of cheaper technological advancemennts in the filters, resists or whatever, then that introduces an uncertainty of large signifigance. To make a proper investment decision in this stock it is IMO imperative to know just how necesary these lasers are to the future of semiconductors, it would be a most unpleasant irony if the shorts are all correct, not that the lasers are that problematic, but that the industry has found ad hoc ways to lengthen the usefulness of existing technology that they are famaliar with. If the lasers are important in 2 years we are in serious trouble here. We need lasers that are important now or in six months or at the very latest 1 year. If anyone can shed some light on these issues it would be most welcome.
