Dems held both Houses of Congress for only four years, two under Bush and two under Obama. Their two years under Obama were also spent saving the economy from certain collapse, reforming the banking system and health care. Under Bush, the vast majority of their time was spent on the financial collapse.

After Citizens United created new lawso the Dems had only one choice if they wanted to survive, cozy up to big business or become extinct. That's where the money is and that's why SCOTUS did what it did. There aren't enough unions to fund billion-dollar campaigns. It's that simple.

When President Obama told SCOTUS they opened the floodgates of money into politics, Alito mouthed the words, "not true." He had no idea what he had just done. IMO, he and his party destroyed democracy in the US.

Dems lost seats in almost every election since Citizens United in 2010 (a census year which makes that decision even more troubling). Where do you think Dems can raise the money they need to win elections if not from business?

But it's not just corporate money that's corrupted our form of government. The Koch brothers spent almost $1 billion on the last election. Dems don't have anyone remotely close to donating that amount of money.

Finance reform was killed by SCOTUS. They won't allow any law that restricts their party from keeping power.
