I have to say, though, that I'm wondering if Putin is something of a great beguiler. Bush looked into Putin's soul and decided he was trustworthy, Obama took it a step further and gave Russia access to more uranium, and now Trump said as much as he respected our intel guys Putin made a powerful and persuasive case against it. I know I'm stretching things a little, but it does make me curious what powers of persuasion Putin might have. Acc. to the WSJ today, the White House thought it had been agreed on that Trump would publicly criticize Putin for the hacking and overall meddling. And then Trump meets privately, Putin supposedly speaks for 55 minutes before Trump even starts to talk, and out comes a totally opposite public position by Trump.
