Ha! I should have said the premises of the investigation and some of the assumed "facts" of it. In case you're curious, let me state the most important premise of the case and how it has changed. At the heart of the case was the assumption that several members of the campaign were making 'suspicious comments' and conducting 'suspicious activities' with Russians. These were the actual words John Brennan used. These were the charges by which the FISA warrants were obtained.

That changed in the last two months when it was discovered that none of them initiated anything. It was actually third party operatives that set up meetings, invited Trump officials to speak at Russian events, or introduced Trump officials to high-level Russians at public events.

But the timelines haven't changed to accomodate this new factual information. If you read the one Sam said I was too lazy to read, you will see the same old comments. Like Carter Page met two Gazprom officials or spoke at a commencement address at a Russian college. Or a recap of all the times that George Papadopoulis tried to get candidate Trump to personally meet with Putin. But that's all that's said. It leaves the impression that Trump has surrounded himself with officials who have strong connections and affections for Russia.

The reality is that those campaign officials were being set up. One might call it entrapment. They were subtly maneuvered into doing and saying things that months later became evidence to support the claim that Trump was colluding with Putin.

A proper and accurate timeline would say that Stephan Halper befriended Carter Page and arranged for him to speak at a Russian college. Then any suspicion would flow to Stephan Halper, a man known to have worked for our government, and away from Carter Page.
