I do - do you? Oh, that's kind of snarky, I take it back.

There was an interesting article on this subject in the last hard cover issue of MIT Technology Review. It gave examples of where it has already been tried. And so, what do I think of the idea?

I respect those who are progressive enough thinkers to look at ideas to meet some of the larger problems we have today. So for those willing to keep an open mind and discuss the issue as a means to solve some of our problems - yahoo!! I think we both agree that much of America has been left behind while other parts are soaring economically. However, those who think that manufacturing is coming back to the rust belt states and those who think coal is the answer to the future are only milking these ideas for votes. Those who believe this - read Trump - are either way stupid or milking the desperation of people for their own gain. Coal isn't coming back and we aren't going to make Edsels by hand in Michigan any more.

If we could give people a small stipend and shut off alllllll the huge many social net programs and if it could be shown that it could be paid for - I would look thoroughly at the idea. The places that have tried it the money passed out is small - bare bones living to the extreme. ...........in some areas along the coast one of the biggest problems I see is homeless people. I have a limited passion for many of the homeless - but they are starting to be a blight on communities. They are moving into the wooded areas just outside the cities here and creating encampments. Could a guaranteed income address this issue? Not sure, but I would like us as a country - both sides - to sit down and look at the answers. Not stupid answers like building walls - but meaningful answers to address growing concerns. ...........I could go on for hours on this subject but now I must stop so I can go drink a scotch. I'll be back after I get drunk!
