Many of us were pretty optimistic about Q1 back in Dec but there were also a number of issues that were brought up on this board which casted doubts on our optimism. I think now that we have the benefit of hindsight it's a good time to take another look on these issues.

1.possible lower sales in asia due to market turmoil
2.competition from cloner's going out of business sales
3.profit margin...we were worried that the G3 were overly discounted.
4.non-G3 inventory problems
5.lower education channel sales compare to back to school Q4
6.higher marketing cost during X-mas quarter
7.total revenue....the consensus back then was that we can break even with 1.6 billion but need 1.7-1.8 billion or so to be in the plus.
8.G3's not getting to the market fast enough esp. in international markets.

From the numbers released today I think most of these issues weren't significant enough to cause Apple any problems. Margin is up and Apple managed to cut another 50 mil or so in cost which I thought wasn't possible during the traditionally costly X-mas quarter. Amazing. Over the next few quarters Apple will continue to reap the benefit of decreasing compensation paid to workers laid off months ago.

Things look pretty good. Marc, I'm looking at that screenshot of AAPL trading at 14's back in Dec. My conclusion is that I should have bought more. :)
