Modern Genius

BBC has a (made for Netflix?) program called "Modern Genius". The first season covers Marx, Nietzche, and Freud. It is a highly recommended program. It puts their philosophies and activities into their social and personal context. For example, "communism" (small c) was not really created by Marx. Rather it was codified by him. Marx's main contribution was an analytical study of capitalism. Nietzche's philosophy was highjacked after his death by his sister who was an ardent Nazi supporter. Nietzche himself would have likely been imprisoned by the Nazis. It is very unfortunate that Nietzche did not have access to Buddhist philosophy. It would have done wonders for him.

BTW, there also a sister series called "Ancient Genius" which I have not gotten to yet.
