Re. IP - any company worth its salt can design around potential infringements even to the point of putting the original patent filer in a defensive position - esp. in an area where product life cycles are relatively short. The key is a good IP attorney (doesnt require a team just one good attorney) and some sharp technologists - it certainly looks like Radica has the latter at least. If it looks like they will pay more than a brass farthing they need another IP attorney - someone ready to fight rather than roll over and play dead.
Willingness to fight the opposition, a show of strength is very important. I speak with experience on this multinational patent issue.
