Off Topic Chat - Tomasso,

It is a raised ranch with 3 sides of the first floor having about 1/2 of the walls protected by soil. About half of the lower walls average maybe R-10 and the other half I have upgraded by building them out to R-20.

The upper level has about R-20 (R-13 batts + 1" rigid fibreglass + the overhanging roof sheathing and shingles) walls and maybe R-30 in the ceiling. I think I have figured how to add R-10 to these walls this summer.

58+ was the coldest room after adding the plastic. It was about 54-55 before that. We ran the wood stove with a flue temperature about 300 degrees and for safety let the fire burn down before we went to bed.

Because of the cost of electric heating, I try to have an 'insulating project' each year. I have it all in a spreadsheet, with estimates for the heatgain from the sun and the contribution of household appliances, etc ... My wife thinks I am nuts, or at least did until this ice storm.
