Ultimately, I judge a politician by whether he/she supports single payer universal healthcare. If the politician doesn't support that, this tells me he/she is not a decent human being. Party affiliation means little to me - though a lot more Dems support single payer than Repubs. So, my bias is on the Dem side, the progressive wing of the Party.
I saw lots of people - some friends - who died as a result of respiratory diseases from helping out during 9/11 and the Government refused to pay for their illnesses or by the time they agreed to pay over 10 years later, these people, my friends, died. And they suffered tremendously before they died. It was in many instances a very slow, painful death. I can never forgive USA Government for this. My animosity and hostility is very much rooted here.
