Will Trump Tariff have a different effect from Smoot–Hawley Tariff of 1930? Smoot–Hawley Tariff led to a 30% reduction by trade volume, 60% reduction in monetary value from the sequence of trade wars with protective moves and currency devaluation by each country. It all started with USA. The resulting steep rise in unemployment and war like air over the world led to the rise of Adolf Hitler and WW2 eventually. Does Trump want WW3? America won't be better off because of Trump's trade war.
