The argument has merits. But why hasn't China been more outspoken to spook the markets? Its early. Remember when Bush went to war with Iraq? He got his allies in the Senate to start pounding the table in mid-August, then he started pounding the table in Sept, after Labor Day. The election doesn't begin until after Labor Day. Americans have short memories. Especially the ones whose attitudes tend to count on election day, the ones who don't really pay attention to what's going on in politics and get swayed by advertising.
