I see it a bit different. The US uses its military and finances to control other countries. China does the opposite. They're spending $1 trillion on infrastructure in other countries. We can't pay for our own infrastructure much less $1 trillion in other countries. They play the good cop. We play the bad cop. They're using our military against us. Wars in Iraq and threats of war in Iran prove their case. The US can't be trusted to lead the world. Trust them.
