Until a deal is done -- or dead, anything & everything is negotiable. You sort of answered your own question. I suspect, if the Chinese can't move to approve the deal, they very well be offering QCOM & NXP less restrictive terms on the acquisition if they're willing to extend term of the deal. They may be opening negotiations to creative ways to keep the two companies from killing the deal -- as the Chinese are clearly losers if this deals does not come about.

Should be an interesting next 36 hours.
