If your platform cannot talk to the people in a very visceral way (like Trump's MAGA did), it's the wrong platform. Depends completely on what segment of the population you designate as "the people." My own guess, fwiw, is the Dems will be best served in 2018 with the local strategy. One message does fine in western PA and another in Queens and the Bronx in NYC. I expect this to last either until the primaries in 2020 or some one candidate establishes both a compelling narrative and a winning polling strategy. Unlikely.
