It seems to me China got use to negotiating against Qualcomm folk with weak hands and that is why we are where we are today. Fortunately, there is finally a new and hopefully more solid bunch across the table and it may well be that the Chinese have yet to acknowledge this change.

There is no good reason for the Chinese to have taken as long as they have to decide upon NXP. All the trade crap is nothing more than an excuse for the dragging out of it all in hope of getting all they can.

ZTE and Huawei actions of the last few years also come across as nothing more than trade shenanigans but those are being driven by a different crowd. It would be nice if some form of truly competitive global common sense did returned but that still appears rather unlikely.

On the negotiating front, Qualcomm of late has moved in a more positive direction than others. Maybe some of that will now rub off upon opposing parties. If not ….. it's everyone's loss.
