The US is headed towards martial law and armed uprising. I am not sure if you saw this chart that I posted. It shows the voting track record of the House of Representatives. What you see prior to the '90s is that although DNC and RNC had different positions, the Congress worked as a unified whole and the two parties worked together to get things done. Since the mid '90s however, a hidden civil war has been brewing. This level of polarization is not tenable. And the differences are not just between the two parties. The entire society is just as badly divided. In the '70s most people did not care if their son or daughter married someone from the other party (e.g. Hillary was a Republican and married a Democrat). But today, people will not even want to be casual friends with someone of the other party. I imagine the situation was similar in the prelude to the Civil War. Only this time it is not going to be North vs South; it will be within every single state.
