>> Does anyone know the current status of the Fereral Gov. in regard to their Y2K work. Like, how much is completed - how much to go -

Not since the Auditor-General's report

>> who has the contracts etc?

CGI Group, LGS Group, Agiss and Cognicase have some - check their SI threads. Also since October, I have been posting all significant news at Subject 17540 where there is also a link to the AG's report.

>> Speaking of that how about the Provincial Gov.s?

CGI and LGS are doing well with them. I expect that Group West may do well out in Western Canada but haven't heard of any contracts yet.

>> will we be going into chaos come 2000 if certain areas are not in line.

Absolutely, the impact of the recent ice storm may give you a small idea.

>> Also what will be the ramifications if other countries or factions are not in compliance? Will there be ripple effects from some obscure point that will cause us(CAN,US) problems here?

Absolutely. The interconnection of the banking systems is just one. The electonic interchange of data between companies is another. There are scores of others where a compliant organization will be dragged down by a non-compliant trading partner.
