8/3/2018 Contest update
Let’s cut some slack to President Trump and Press Secretary Huckabee Sanders. I mean, haven’t we all cursed the press as “the enemy of the people” when we clicked on a link to an article expounding on Paul Manafort’s taste in haberdashery and were confronted by a paywall?
Meanwhile, Contest portfolios had another difficult week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 9.85% YTD (vs. up 11.47% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 9.75% YTD (vs. up 8.17% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 11.20% YTD (vs. up 11.78% YTD a week ago) and the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) was up 13.16% YTD (vs. up 12.08% YTD a week ago).
Considering the week’s Contest stock pick weakness, the top three portfolios held up well. KMASTR’s portfolio, up 68.93% YTD, maintained its grip on first place, with ALIAS’s portfolio, up 56.62% YTD, and THID’s portfolio, up 52.57% YTD, holding on to second and third place.
At Friday's close, 40 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 31, half, beating the NBI and 30 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 4.40% and a median YTD loss of -9.21%, with 98 showing a gain for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a relaxing first August weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
