Worms 2 Servers Wriggling Along

January 15, 1998

While European Worms 2 servers are already
online, new US-based servers will be launched
shortly for Team17's latest strategy shooter,
Worms 2.

According to Team17's Martyn Brown, "Now that the game has
officially gone on sale in North America I would like to take this
opportunity to let your readers know some details about the US
Server which will be running Worms 2 within the next week. We
had hoped to have this in place earlier, but this was not possible.
The address for the US Worms 2 server (the details of which
can be entered into the games Internet connection panel) will be
as follows:

ADDRESS: us1.servers.worms2.com PORT: 17000

This server is expected to be up and running by January 19 and
joins three servers in the UK and one in Finland (where currently
it isn't unusual to have players from three continents playing in a
single game). More servers are due to follow, including a West
Coast server, a Norwegian server and one in Germany.

Said Brown, "We are currently getting something approximately
50K-70K connections per week as the game's awareness as
one of the most playable Internet games ever propagates through
the net 'scene'."

In closing Team17 will be releasing a patch at the end of January
for the game that is said to incorporate some tweaks for
gameplay and network code.
