Josh, the day will inevitably arrive when you will have to move. Those books that have taken up shelf space all through your time with them become a real problem. I finally decided to donate more than 100 like new books to my local library. They agreed to take all I would give them, offer to sell those they didn't want or need, and send the rest off for recycling. I had to practically close my eyes as I loaded box after box for the trip to the library. I still ended up keeping and moving enough to fill 3 shelves after my relocation. Point being, start weeding out NOW, before you're faced with having to do it all at once. Of course, weeding out also applies to all the other stuff you're stowing away around the house and garage. I probably spent at least 2 years getting rid of things prior to moving. I really didn't have a moving date in mind, but as I grew older, I knew that date was out there, probably sooner than I was guessing. Start early.....
