That news, when it broke, made no sense to me from either China's or the US perspective -- kinda shows, IMO, why trade wars are just counterproductive to everyone involved and nobody ever wins and/or they lead to shooting wars (access to oil markets was a main driver for Japan that led to bombing Perl Harbor)... history may not repeat itself exactly, but it sure does rhyme...
