Appears we ran huge deficits when at war but very little or surplus when not at war. Something else really changed the past 50+ years... Guessing many more older people living longer plus medicare and the entitlement culture growing by leeps and bounds?? People bring up military but as a percentage of GDP seems not too out of line. VA a different story however..

We need high growth and low interest rates or totally screwed...
