I spoke with an owner of an agency yesterday and was advised that the industry standards for acquiring a company is basically 3 to 7 times earnings, depending on industry concentration and market. Has anyone heard of other standards?

The $1.5mm number generated at an office is low and that number should be much higher in larger markets. They started 5 years ago, entered a market in a community of 36,000 with 85,000 living in the county and now are doing over $2.5mm. They compete against 4 other competitors for the work. For what it is worth.
