| yes, I think that is true. I have a black friend as well, who used to work for me and now we stay in touch. He told me that the lower the unemployment rate for blacks goes and the better they do in their careers, in other words, the more affluent blacks become, the less they feel obligated to be Democrats. That was interesting to me, because it seems to be a common theme. The harder you work and the more successful you are, the less you lean towards the socialist ideologies of the Democrats. This is where the GOP simply doesn't capitalize on their strongest points. If I was running for office as a Republican, I would hammer home the idea that I want to fight for an American work environment that gives people the OPPORTUNITY to succeed. An environment that is fair and unbiased and the rewards performance. I believe people of color don't want handouts. It feels demeaning for the do-gooders to constantly feed the victim mentality among minorities. I want hispanic Americans to be proud of their culture and their accomplishments and to never feel like they are second place. And if they fail, then I want them to try harder, work harder, be smarter, and don't ask the government for anything. You know who helped me succeed? First it was my family. Then it was the community of friends and co-workers that I built. Then when I become successful, I helped many around me to also succeed. Then they had my back when I needed it most. The best I can say about the government is that they stayed out of my way. I didn't get any handouts and I didn't ask or want any handouts. In return, I paid my taxes, didn't break the law, and was a productive member of society. That's the social contract. That's what Republicans should stand for. |
