Thanks for posting these articles about INTC and AMD.
This morning an analyst at Goldman Sachs flip-flopped their stance on two rival chip stocks. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) was upgraded to "neutral" from "sell" and saw its price target bumped up to $21 from $13.25, while sector peer Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) was downgraded to "sell" from "neutral" and received a price-target cut to $44 from $49. Earnings estimates for Current Year and Next Year are 0.46 and 0.62 for a grand total of 1.08. Present PE values are 40.2 and 29.8. It was pointed out in one of the articles that the short interest on AMD is very high. Any "entity" looking to short a stock would pick on AMD, and rightly so, based on its earnings outlook and prior history, but the "market" loves AMD and always pumps it up to extremely high levels until it "flops" again.
The chart shows the long time performance of INTC and AMD from the 1992 era to now where INTC has gained 15,000% and AMD has gained essentially "0"%. The market "loved" AMD way back when and they love it now. Isn't there an old saying out there that says, "Love springs eternal"?
