Note the Ackerman comment that "WDC's efforts to scale back incremental NAND wafer adds to support pricing is not without significant risk." There is no assumption of lower cost per wafer, as there should be, given the move toward QLC and higher density 3D. On the other hand, the prospect of lower growth rates for SSD and related NAND products suggests weaker pricing, owing to greater supply capacity from the major NAND producers, WDC included. These factors taken together suggest that, while WDC may be undervalued at its present price, it surely has a low probability of rising more than 10 to 15% in this kind of market. Those who may have bought in the upper 70's or higher may have a long wait before breaking even. Luckily, I sold my holdings in the low 80's. I'm not ready to buy more, even at the current price.
