BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1996--Boca Research, Inc. (NASDAQ:BOCI) and ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) jointly announced today that they have entered into a licensing agreement, making Boca Research the first company to license ADTRAN's new Instant ISDN technology (patent pending). Instant ISDN is ADTRAN's powerful Automatic SPID Detection technology for Basic Rate ISDN terminal equipment. Using this new technology, a buyer of a Boca Research ISDN digital modem merely has to enter the new telephone number assigned by the local phone company for the ISDN service, and the ISDN device takes care of the setup process. This contrasts with the present situation in which the user must know and properly enter information such as SPIDS and switch type.
