No but we owe the English our language and the backbone of our laws and traditions. Not to mention our ancestry. However, we threw off the yoke of their political system. Thank God.
As to France and Spain not sure what we took from them, someone help me out here.:-)

Anyway, point I was making was that, just because a country or continent was conquered or discovered by another country doesn’t mean its forever their responsibility. South American countries and South Africa all got independence as we did. Britain is no more responsible for them any more than Britain is responsible for America.

And in line with President Trumps merit system I think the farmers from South Africa should get priority status as Asylum seekers, they are persecuted and under fear of their lives and as someone pointed out they are hardworking and they already speak English. IMHO.
