Marden:

First of all, I not speaking for the company. Having said that, I can tell you from an Engineers marketing view, it is foolish to destroy your market when there is no competition. Think in terms of degree of fault tolerance, NSK is on the top which it should be. You are asking or should ask about degrees of fault tolerances.

For example, making X86 hardware fault tolerant with NSK software. Tandem had already done that with Mips processors. Can X86 hardware be make fault tolerant, can any processors be made fault tolerant, absolutely. Can NSK be ported to X86 hardware and make them somewhat fault tolerant. Yes (CS150). There is a whole field of "fault tolerant" many people claim to have achieved. I believe Tandem should and must compete.

Air trafic control such as you are familiar with must have the full Fault Tolerance of NSK hardware and Software. This can happen with X86 processors and NSK software. NT Software has a long way to go. I hope this clears my thoughts.

Cheers
