Paul:

Schmidt has consolidated all sales and marketing under ONE operation. No more Groupwise, Netware, Managewise conflicts and channes. This is really quite BIG IMHO.

All incentives have been reworked. Stock options are definitely there. I'm seeing a huge impact on the way Novell's sales reps work with VARs and untouched accounts.

>>The Novonyx announcement means that Novell's sales force has to sell the web server. Can they do it? That is where senior management ought to focus like a laser beam.>>

Believe me. From where I see they are seeing this NOW.

>> You cannot get to be a leading Internet company unless you can show that you can take superior products (Netscape's web server on Novell's NOS) and sell them. They need goals, quotas, sales plans, and strategies. Every webmaster should be aware that the Novonyx product exists. Novell has two products to hit the NT market with to open the door (BorderManager cache and NDs on NT). They should be doing some sales calls and inviting webmasters at corporations to try the Novonyx combination. >>

All this is happening NOW Paul. Netscape's problems will only solidify this new channel for Novell to benefit more directly.

>>Biggestmistake Novell could make is to just send the sales force out to sell the existing base. They have to go out to NT customers and show them the better product. ITs an attitude problem at Novell. They have to learn to sell around and under MSFT. >>

I'm seeing this now Paul. Hey, pick up the phone and check your own sources.... Then share with us what you find out. There is a lot of life left in this company. Schmidt and his new team continue to make major changes which I view as being very positive.

Good luck!
