A patent assignment and a license are two entirely different things.

Why would one Google "assignment" to learn about a license?

A patent assignment is an irrevocable agreement for a patent owner to sell, give away, or transfer interest to an assignee, who can enforce the patent.
A license conveys the ability to USE the patented material. It doesn't transfer ownership. A licensee doesn't own the IP. They own the right to USE it.

I thought you were the resident IP expert.
