IMO their oil asset are way undervalued here. From what I've looked at. They hit some nice production wells. The oil price is still over 50. Also ,I believe speculative appeal is high in the Permian Basin & Eagle Ford. My biggest gain so far this years has been MCF, #9 on this years SITT list. It's also been a past top looser for myself. I no longer have any shares. Although I almost bought back in on that last dip below 5. I believe the CEO recently stepped down and Mr. Goff stepped up his stake. I think his initial stake and building stake brought some credence to my theory that their assets were undervalued. I just own In the money and out of the money leap WRD call options so far. I also recently bought more scaled up JAG for some of the same reasons. FWIW I own both on JAG, common and Calls . IMO MCF still has the best chance to be monetized, because it's small,. It has an activist investor, and it has some nice add on undeveloped property for someone with deeper pockets.

I haven't looked at the others you mentioned yet. IVZ & JHG

P.S. IMO-At A quick glance without looking at their asset class diversification. Both look like a good choice for your mother. Charts look to be bottoming. I personally don't use asset management funds except in my 401K which is 100% invested in a boring stability of principle choice.
