Free speech is dying in this country. To be honest, I don't have a lot of respect for the ACLU. They usually are just a Dem mouthpiece, so imagine my surprise when they actually defended free speech wrt Alex Jones. I don't even like Alex Jones. I think he's a blow hard conspiracy theorist. But I'll always defend his right to free speech. I also think our laws have not caught up to technology. So until we acknowledge that Google, Facebook, and Twitter have far more clout in disseminating speech than the MSM, our laws have no chance to ensure our Constitutionally protected free speech extends to those platforms, which is necessary if free speech is to have any meaning in this country. For example, why are Google employees rebelling against management's decision to deploy a censored Google Search capability in China? Because they know exactly how important Google Search is to free speech and its transformative power for large populations of people who want to live in freedom. Why aren't those same employees applying that same logic to the US? Because they happen to be VERY liberal at Google and they like it when conservative speech is censored. It is EXACTLY how unchecked bias leads to a person's values being destroyed by their ideology. It is exactly why I've pointed out this inconsistency among liberals so many times on these threads. What the liberals are failing to see is that the tools of censorship that are being used today against conservatives will one day also be used against ALL forms of political speech including that of the liberals. Censorship of speech is used by tyrants to silence dissent as they consolidate power. In destroying free speech, liberals are knocking another pillar out of country's freedoms and enabling a faster slide to despotism.
