Subj: Franklin announces Microsoft NT Drivers for UltraFast 155Mbps Ethernet
Date: 96-10-01 13:05:37 EDT

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1996--
Franklin Telecom announced today that it is in final beta testing of
Microsoft's NT Driver software used in conjunction with Franklin's
Hurricane 155 Megabits per second UltraFast Ethernet product.
Franklin Telecom holds 2 patents on the Hurricane design.
According to Franklin's President and C.E.O. Frank Peters, "We
have been shipping Novell versions 3 and 4 and Windows '95 for some
time now. The addition of NT is a major step for us technically
because of the protected mode operation of the NT Operating System.
Our Hurricane Ethernet cards are the only "Fast Ethernet" product
that can be `daisy chained' so that no HUB is required.
Peters went on to say, "Deliveries for Beta versions are
scheduled for October 1, 1996. Franklin has been shipping the
Hurricane for about a year. We believe our latest product
development will be widely accepted in this market. The new NT
product will reduce the cost for many corporations for UltraFast
Ethernet LAN's. We intend to provide solutions that will
dramatically reduce the cost of corporate communication for LAN &
WAN (Intranet) connections."
The system will begin shipments this month and our target for
full production of availability is Oct. 30, 1996. Projected charges
for a typical user with a PC like work station using NT, Windows '95
or Novell will be $169 per card for ISA, $196 for EISA, $205 for
VESA, $260 for a PCI bus systems and $795 for an 8 port HUB.
