Labor Secretary Alexis Herman is under investigation for influence peddling for helping someone obtain an FCC license for satellite telephone system. They never mention which one though. I have to imagine it is one of the new licensees like Ellipso.

I hope everyone got a few more shares or LEAPS with LOR in the 19's.

I have presented alternative methods of valuing LOR before--here is another. PanAmSat is currently valued at approximately $6 billion. Loral Skynet is in a similar business. By 2000, Skynet will have Telstar 4,5,6,7,8&9, Orion 1, 2&3, Solidaridad 1 & 2, Morelos III, and whatever acquisition may come along. This puts them at a similar satellite mass(actually a bit less) as PanAmSat. Once again, you can come up with a value over $20 per share for Skynet alone. In doing this, you give no extra value to Loral for its ability to increase revenue per transponder over the average(I guarantee you they will). You get SS/L, Globalstar, Cyberstar/Skybridge, Mabuhay transponders, CD Radio stake, DBS in India, Rural Telephony by GEO, etc. for free. Just another angle to look at when you are deciding if this is a safe worthwhile investment.
