Thanks for your comments Mark. I would like to add a couple of other comments.

The high temperature of the fuel cell is not an issue as the fuel cell could generate electricity 24 hrs/day to keep the vehicles batteries fully charged. Therefore the driver would not have to wait for the cell to reach operating temperature as it would always be hot. So you drive your electric vehicle to work and it continues to charge the batteries while parked in the lot. This would likely extend battery life. Same thing overnight but the fuel cell might "throttle back" when the batteries become fully charged but continue to trickle charge them.

The ERC fuel cell should be better than Ballard's for the variety of fuels possible and no reformer which would diminish net efficiency in Ballards case. The fuel cell hybrid should be a lot simpler to construct not having a motor generator set with automatic electric starting.

I could be missing something here but I think ERC's fuel cell might really be a very good choice for hybrid use. IMHO.
