The hope for our species, IMO, lies primarily with the kids and women and especially the young women. I was integrally involved in the cultural revolution in the west in the 60's which I see as the first major existential movement in the history of humankind.

It was a watershed time when our species was throwing out primitive cultural norms and mores and replacing them with modern humanitarian norms and mores and also replacing cultural traditions with existential ideology.

Which I think is a normal process one should expect when education is manifested in a society.

Today I am seeing that same thing in ALL the cultures in the world. It looks like the internet has done two major positive things:1) it has allowed cultural diffusion on a massive scale, so learning and thinking is increasing at warp speed; and 2) the constant exchange of ideas is strengthening people's ability to engage in sophisticated abstract thinking.

Then when you add to the fact that no culture on earth pushes their kids more academically (too much IMO) than the South Koreans, you get the results that no culture on earth has advanced more than they have in the last 50 years.

There is a great book: "The birth of Korean Cool", which does a great job of showing how they came from a third world economy and dictatorship 50 years ago to a leading democracy today with the 11th largest economy.

Cheers
