I am not a scientist (and I don't play one on TV...;) but what I have read about teloremase seems to be very fundamental - it is a very real, and very important part of cell biology. A comparison might be to the discovery of the transistor - people may compete to make the most reliable transistor, or the cheapest, but everyone is still using transistors. There is much less potential for parallel discoveries to bypass this one than with many other "breakthroughs".
Which doesn't mean that other companies can't leapfrog these guys in their own field...

However, long before GERN sees revenue from theraputic agents (after long FDA approval processes...), I believe that the assay techniques and kits they have put together (and patented) will have widespread use as reasearch and diagnostic tools (which I am assuming do not require FDA approval, since they do not affect people directly. Sorry for the assumption, I'm new to biotech, the press release and linked papers caught my eye).

I don't have the balls to play the short side (nor the financial resources to buffer the risks), but I might play patient investor, get in after the price settles, and wait for the next bubble. I smell money on that side too...
