Tony--

The latest issue of Imaging Magazine (October '96 p 73-74) has a nice article about capture software in which Cornerstone Input Accel is favorably mentioned. The article mentions that the product is an " open, scalable product that's optimized for Windows NT." Input Accel offers customization features similar to other toolkits like Seaport Imaging, Kofax, and TMS. However, it allows plug-in task module integration instead of having to write code. This product is again client/server, not Web-based.

In my estimation and experience, client-server document management/retrieval and display systems offer faster retrieval speeds and better overall performance than Web-based ones. The main advantage to Web-based document management systems is the cross platform independence and no need for licensing fees for each workstation running your client imaging software. We are currently trying to migrate to our intranet a LAN-based document management system that we originally developed using Visual Basic, C++, and Access as the DBMS. We don't foresee anywhere near the performance in terms of querying and response that we now have in our LAN-based system.

I'd be interested in knowing what your experiences are along these lines. By the way, CRNR has moved up about 1 1/2 points in the last two weeks. Any news?
