Well well well, I wasn't aware of this thread. A bit before my time!

This should prove some interesting reading when I get the chance.

Regarding MRK, in DeMark's new book he addresses the issue of recycling in a much more in depth manner, and there are times when it is valid to ignore a recycle. In the book he seems to prefer ignoring recycles in these categories:
1) the range of the true low/true high of the recycle setup is less than the range of the original setup
2) the range of the true low/true high of the recycle setup is greater than some multiple (he uses 2 as an example frequently in the book) than the range of the original setup.

Another interesting filter he adds to the sequential is having the countdown day 13 be either higher or lower (whicher is applicable) than day 8, and actually postponing the countdown completion until this is accomplished.

I will have to examine this second setup you have pointed out -- don't have enough time for serious charting here at work right now!
