We bought this house in 2002. In 2003 redid the basement and put in not,one, but two, water heaters. My wife said, “you’re living with three females, we don’t want to run out of hot water.”

So. . . They are 15 years old. No evidence of leaking yet, but I need to be thinking about replacing.

BTW, it sounds,like you got your answer about instant water heaters. Amazing the wealth of information out there on the interwebs.
