Just curious if you have a washing machine or floor drain in the basement?
What I was thinking about was how people drain a basement water heater.

Hi Josh,
Good idea on initiating the thread.

We have a washing machine in the basement that drains into an H2O proof container located "below grade" in the basement floor.

An H2O pump in the container gets the wash water thru a hose and up and into the drain pipe that goes to the septic field. Temporary electric power is not an issue since we have 2 generators.

That wash water is the only drain that needs help. The kitchen and both bathroom's H20 is located a level higher and flows naturally via gravity to the primary septic system.
No electric? No problem. Wash the clothes, etc., in the tub upstairs. That water flows down to the septic field.

I was not 100% pleased with that wash water and sewage drainage in the event we got a large family group for more than a day, so I built an outhouse. Never used by a group yet, but readily available for any event.

Also, our Hot H2O is on "demand"...no problem with just cutting the heat off. So I should mention we have no hot H2O holding tank. We use a tankless, propane on demand, Renei hot H2O system.

In the event of a large party...(We had one whopper in May 2013), I rent 2 of the larger construction type outhouses and a wash station. It all gets delivered in the AM and picked up a day later. Also had a 40'x60' tent
with tables and chairs for that one event.
