Hi Tonto! From my experience in mergers & acquisitions, I agree with your findings. Industries and circumstances vary and can greatly affect the final price. But generally speaking, valuations tend to be in the range you mentioned.

The reason behind this stems from the comparisons Business Buyers use in determining whether or not they want the ROI a business can generate vs the ROI that money would have elsewhere.

That's an over-simplified explanation of it, but I don't want to get into all the different variables because the list seems endless.

In this particular situation (FAMH acquiring Myriad), I understand the tax problem that Myriad has is a very pressing issue. That creates a temendous bargaining chip for FAMH.
