About 4 years ago I had the kitchen remodeled. I had a Kitchen Aid (Whirlpool) Micro and regular oven combo, a GE Fridge, an Asko (Swedish) dishwasher, and a Bosch inductive cooktop installed.

The GE fridge died for the second time last year so I bought an LT to replace it. While the GE was a lower priced "special buy", it still was well over $1000. The first time, the fan in the freezer died causing the whole fridge to stop cooling. While waiting a week for repair (didn't know the fan was dead), I kept the freezer contents cold with dry ice. The repair guy found the fan problem. One look at that fan showed me that GE made refrigerators with toy motor-driven fans. I knew I was in for more trouble and when it conked out again, I just went and bought the LT.

The rest of the appliances haven't given me any problems yet. I bought the Asko because I had one before the remodel and it still worked. I figured it wouldn't be worth keeping it and it wouldn't match the other stainless appliances anyway, but it was a good machine so I got another.

I decided to try an induction cook top on the new kitchen island. I wasn't sure at the time but now I wouldn't have any other cook top. Water boils very fast, the glass only gets warm to the touch, and it's easy to keep clean. I use cast iron pans and induction-ready pots. I gave away all the aluminum stuff.
