Unfortunately they are good examples of the poor standard of education these days, especially at University level.

Dr. Victor Davis Hanson has said quite a lot in that regard, bearing in mind that he's been involved with several high profile institutions.

I remember watching a documentary once where someone interviewed random teenagers, on public walkways in one of the major American cities, and asked them basic questions about where cities or regions were located on other continents, and even which countries were where.

It was both laughable, and sad, how many teenagers didn't know basic facts that I'm sure students 15 or 20 years ago would not have had a problem answering ....
